Course description

A performing arts BTEC gives students the opportunity to combine their creative talents with the practical aspects of self-promotion and arts management. This mix of disciplines is a good preparation for the tough world of artistic performance. The course is practically based and will involve lots of work in the school and community

Course content

The Course is made up of 4 units:

Investigating Practitioners

Work Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance

Group Performance Workshop

Performing Arts in the Community

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's at grade C or above inclusing Maths, English Language, PE and Science

Assessment

The new BTEC national will assess you in three ways:

Assignments—You will complete a series of tasks set in a work-related scenario and produce a portfolio of evidence.

Tasks - In controlled conditions, you will complete a practical task tackling an everyday challenge

Written Exam - You will draw on essential information to create written answers to practical questions in test conditions.

A BTEC National Performing Arts qualification can lead to a range of higher education courses in the performance industry, including:
