A Level Geography at Bath Community Academy

Course description

Investigate how the physical landscape has helped shape the development of human world. Consider the future of urban and natural environments. Can we make the world a better place? Course Overview

Year 1

Unit 1: Physical and Human Geography 
Rivers, flood and management; Coastal Environments; Population Change. 
Unit 2: Geographical Skills 
You will take part in fieldwork. Visits have included trips to Italy to study tectonics and urban issues and river studies in the UK.

Year 2

Unit 3: Contemporary Geographical Issues 
World Cities and urban issues; Contemporary Conflicts and Challenges. 
Unit 4b: Geographical Issue Evaluation 
Students study an advance information booklet about a geographical issue, undertake research and develop geographical skills related to the topic.

Grade B in Geography

Future opportunities

Geography is a good bridge between science, humanities or arts subjects. Employers value geography students decision making skills, their numeracy and understanding of the need for sustainability.
