Entry requirements

A sound basis in Music at GCSE is usually required, as is the ability to play an instrument to a high level. The basic standard expected at AS level is Grade 5 and at A2 level, Grade 6. Pupils will be expected to make a commitment to supporting music in the School. They will also need the self-discipline to pursue a fair amount of private study.

Future opportunities

The Music A’ level is clearly an important basis for further study in the subject, and every year a number of pupils go on to do a higher education Music course. However the combination of discipline and enjoyment gained from studying Music makes it an excellent A’ level to take for its own sake and it is greatly valued by Universities and Colleges as an excellent qualification to have alongside others.
