Course description

The Project encourages you to develop your intellectual and analytical capabilities.

The course is designed to develop your own organisational, project management and independent learning skills.

Course content

The course requires you to select your own topic to study and produce a project in one of the following formats:

• A Dissertation of 5-6000 words

• An Investigation/Field Study

• An Artefact

You will be allocated a supervisor to guide and support you as you develop independent learning skills. The supervisor will guide you, but you should take the lead.

Entry requirements

The EPQ enrolment process starts in the January of your first year. Advanced Level students are given the opportunity to attend introductory lectures to learn what the EPQ entails. If you are still interested in completing the EPQ you will need to complete an application form giving your reasons. If you are chosen to join the course, you will start weekly lessons in June of the first year. You will carry out research over the summer vacation and then finish the project during the autumn term. The final formal presentation of the work will be given in March of your second year.
