Travel and Tourism BTEC Diploma Level 2 at City College Plymouth

Course description

Travel and tourism is one of the world’s fastest growing industries and this study programme can help you develop the skills needed to become part of this exciting world. It includes lots of practical areas of study such as customer service, the role of air cabin crew and the role of the overseas representative.  

Course content

The core units to be studied are:

  • the UK travel and tourism industry
  • exploring customer service in travel and tourism
  • UK travel and tourism destinations.

Your individualised study programme will be made up of the following four areas:

  • the qualification you are studying
  • English and maths
  • work experience
  • other activities to develop your personal skills e.g. preparing you for employment, training or higher/further education.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements. However, you must show a willingness to engage and a genuine interest in the course, that will enable you to progress into employment or further education. 


Assessment includes a series of coursework assignment activities for each unit. The work may include individual or group written reports, individually completed worksheets, oral presentations, group or individual projects and facility visit reports.

This qualification gives you an excellent opportunity to develop a career in the travel and tourism industry or to progress on to the level 2 travel and tourism course offered at the College.
