Geography A Level at Ormiston Rivers Academy

Course description

- Component 1 - Physical Systems worth 24% (1 hour 45 minute exam). This component includes ‘landscape systems’ and the ‘Earth’s life support systems’.

- Component 2 - Human Interactions worth 24% (1 hour 45 minute exam). Global connections and changing places including topics such as global migration and human rights.

- Component 3 - Geographical Debate worth 32% (2 hour 30 minute examination). Five topics of which students study two from the following: climate change, disease dilemma, the future of food, hazardous earth.

- Component 4 - Investigative Geography worth 20% and it is an independent geographical investigation conducted by each student based on primary and secondary data.

Entry requirements

Grade C in Geography & grade 5 in Mathematics.

Future opportunities

Town Planner, Environmental Officer, Teacher, Charity Worker, Weather Presenter or Geologist.

Further information

Fieldwork
It is compulsory that all students undertake at least four days of fieldwork. For your budgeting purposes UK residential trips cost in the region of £200-£250.
