Health & Social Care BTEC Diploma - Level 2 at Redcar & Cleveland College

Course description

The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care is designed to equip individuals and develop the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required at an operational level in the care sector.

A course for individuals aiming to work in the Health and Social Care Sector or progress on to the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care

Course content

Students will undertake 8 units of study:

Mandatory units:

  • Communication in Health & Social Care
  • Individual rights in Health & Social Care
  • Individual Needs in Health & Social Care
  • Ensuring Safe Environments in Health & Social Care.

Plus 4 specialist units.

In addition to the above, functional skills in Maths and English will also be delivered.

Entry requirements

All applicants must display a genuine interest in working in the care sector. Applications must have 4 GCSEs at grade D-E or above, or alternatively, a Health & Social Care BTEC Diploma Level 1.

Assessment

Units will be assessed internally. Functional skills in Maths and English also part of this programme; are assessed externally.

Future opportunities

Successful achievement of 8 units of study will provide the student with the qualification of BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care.

Progression to BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care after the programme. 

Further information

Students have to successfully complete 60 hours of work experience.
