History A Level at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

A History A level develops the skills of analysis and judgement, which allows students to gain confidence in writing and speaking persuasively. It also develops key research skills, along with an understanding of the media and its influential role in society. All these skills are highly relevant to university study and to the contemporary work environment. On this course, a varied curriculum brought to life through fascinating trips and visits, focuses predominantly on Early Modern History, specifically Britain and Europe in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. There is also the opportunity to independently investigate a period of change in Modern History.

Entry requirements

In order to study this A level programme students must gain 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C or an equivalent full Level 2 qualification, including English Language and History at grade B.

Assessment

A Levels are assessed by a mixture of coursework and exams.

You could be eligible for a 16-19 bursary to help with education-related costs.
