Graphic Design BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Amersham and Wycombe College
This course is for students who want to explore design and typography wherever there is a requirement for quality visual communication.

This course offers students an exciting and creative route into the profession of Graphic Design or related areas. With tuition in
the principal design packages such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (all taught on Apple i-mac systems), students also engage in using processes such as illustration, print-making and photography to enhance their designs. The course consists of
projects such as designing advertising campaigns, packaging, magazines, information graphics and typography. Generating creative responses to design briefs and experimenting with all sorts of 2D visual media, both traditional and digital are key elements of
this course. Many students go on to study Graphic Design at degree level.
Year 1 coures = 90 credit Diploma
Year 2 course = a further 90 credits providing in total a 180 credit Extended Diploma
4 GCSEs at grade C or above of which one must be English or Maths OR successful completion of a Level 2 qualification including a pass at English and Maths. A portfolio may be required or an assessed task to check skill level.
Continuous assessment through practical work, assignments and project led exercises with a final major project in the final term.
Starter pack of approx £50 plus costs for mountboard throughout the year and costs for materials at End of Year Show
Graphic Design is probably one of the largest employment areas within the creative industries. Opportunities exist in publishing, advertising, corporate industries, film, TV, multimedia, digital gaming, packaging and product design.
