Light Vehicle Maintenance C&G Diploma Level 1 at Hackney Community College

Course description

Learn about motor vehicle technology, computer studies, workshop theory and practise. Careers advice and work experience is an important part of this course. 

 

Course content

You will learn through a mixture of classroom lessons and practical workshops, which take part in our onsite garage.

The course runs over 3 days a week and you should be able to successfully pass this course without the need to do extra work outside of your lessons. However, you may feel the need to complete extra studying in order to pass your Functional Skills Mathematics and English which are essential if you wish to progress on to a Level 3 course.

 
 

Entry requirements

As well as some experience of motor vehicle maintenance, you will also need a satisfactory secondary education, plus a College interview and assessment.

 

Assessment

You will be assessed through on-line and phase tests to check your underpinning knowledge, and through practical assessments in the workshop.

 

Financial information

·         16-18 year-olds do not have to pay tuition fees on FE courses

·         many 16-18 year-olds may be eligible to receive a bursary

·         many 16-18 year-olds can receive a Free College Meals pass (depending on eligibility)

·         Transport for London student travel cards are available.

·         Re-sits, CRB fees and other incidental costs are to be paid when due.

Future opportunities

Level 2 C&G Diploma or Level 2 Apprenticeship if employed.

Before you start your lessons, you’ll take part in induction sessions, where you’ll meet other students and find out all about the support that’s available to you. This includes learning about the Virtual Learning Environment, tutorials and the campus facilities. All students can receive free, confidential and impartial advice on things like: your next step in education or your career, finance, housing, health, immigration, benefit claims, legal problems, sexual health, drugs, staying safe, personal / emotional concerns and other issues.
