Preparing for Adulthood at Oldham College

Course description

Sessions will be very practical and based primarily out in the local community in real life settings or in one of our specialist teaching rooms within college.

Your curriculum will be ‘tailor made’ to meet your individual needs and interests and you will have the opportunity to attend a fully supported experience of work placement with the College or in the local community.

Course content

  • Accessing the community
  • Enterprise projects
  • Healthy living
  • Rights and responsibilities
  • Media studies
  • Event planning
  • Catering
  • Careers workshop.

No formal entry requirements


  • Continual assessment through tutor observations
  • Peer and self-assessment
  • Q/A sessions
  • Completion of practical tasks.

Future opportunities

By successfully completing the course, you will have been encouraged to develop the skills to enable you to lead more fulfilling and independent lives, or progress onto The Personal Progression into Work course
