BTEC Diploma in Travel and Tourism Level 3 at The Thetford Academy

Course description

GENERAL AIMS: To enable students gain a better

understanding of what makes up the Travel and Tourism

Industry and to explore the vibrant and exciting global sector.

COURSE OUTLINE: Students need to reach 120 credits

to achieve their Diploma. To gain this, students need

to complete the following four assignments:

- Investigating the Travel and Tourism Sector.

- The Business of Travel and Tourism.

- The UK as a Destination.

- Customer Service in Travel and Tourism.

After completion students then need to complete a range

of optional assignments in order to reach their 120 credits.

NATURE OF STUDY: The nature of study will be

through independent research, unit assignments,

group discussions and vocational learning.

Entry requirements

Sixth Form Entry

Year 12

A Levels

5 A*-C at GCSE, including a C in English + Mathematics,

with a B grade in the chosen subject areas for A Level.

BTEC Level 3

4 A*-C, preferably including a C in English + Mathematics.

BTEC Level 2

2 D grades.

Year 13

Each student’s work is reviewed at the end of

Year 12 and progress into Year 13 is dependent on

satisfactory performance in the examinations.
