Health and Social Care - Level 3 Diploma at Blackpool and The Fylde College

Course description

On this one-year course you will study a range of units including: communication, health and safety, safeguarding, skin risk assessments and physiological measurements.

This course will equip you gain employment in many careers such as: Healthcare Assistant, Senior Carer or Community-based Support Worker. If you are 18+ you can also progress to one of the University Centre's Foundation Degrees in Health and Social Care, specialising in drugs / alcohol misuse, mental health or working with young people.

You can also study Maths and English alongside this qualification, and you will gain lots of experience in the health and care sectors as you will be allocated a work placement.

Course content

Classroom based for 2 -3 days in college, 1 - 2 days on work placement


Assessed through a range of different methods; direct observation in the work place, portfolio evidence, written assignments, posters, presentations, leaflets or task set by the awarding body.  Portfolio work is submitted to an electronic portfolio.

Future opportunities

FE - Extended Diploma Health and Social Care (subject to Entry Requirements for English and Maths)

HE - Foundation Degree in Professional Practice in Health and Social Care

Employment - senior carer, support worker or health care assistant.
