Philosophy *FEES PAYABLE* at Clifton College

Course description

Philosophy requires some familiarity with the concepts acquired in Religious Studies GCSE as well as a good level of English and Maths. An A grade in Maths is desirable though pupils are expected to have attained at least A grades in English and Religious Studies at GCSE as a minimum entry requirement.

Course content

Philosophy is an exciting and challenging A-level. In the Lower Sixth students study modules in Epistemology and Philosophy of Religion and in the Upper Sixth a further two modules in Ethics and Philosophy of Mind. The department has some excellent resources and the course is complemented by significant support from the Philosophy Society. We aim to use a variety of different teaching methods that will engage students and further their philosophical understanding. Access to primary texts and, where appropriate, use of film and other interactive material make it a challenging yet highly rewarding course of study.
