Cookery - Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery at Yorkshire Coast College
During the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery you will advance your skills and techniques in producing dishes to a professional standard.
You will develop your supervisory skills in food safety and kitchen operations and work as part of a team to provide and serve professional restaurant quality cooking.
The course will cover the following units:
- Supervising Food Safety for Catering
- Supervising Health and Safety
- Supervisory Skills
- Gastronomy and Food Culture
- Sourcing Produce for the Professional Kitchen
- Food Product Development
Level 2 qualification in Hospitality or relevant industrial experience. Also a real passion for food is required and you will be expected to have a positive attitude and good attendance.
After successful completion of the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery you would be well placed to enter into the world of work as a professional chef.
However if you would like to continue your studies further you could choose to progress onto a Foundation Degree in Events Management here at Yorkshire Coast College or choose from a wide selection of degrees at universities nation wide.
Recognised as one of the East Coast’s busiest tourist resorts, there are lots of hotels, restaurants, public houses and catering companies all looking for people to work in both the kitchen and front-of-house positions.
You too could soon be following in the footsteps of Michelin Starred Chefs, James Mackenzie and Steve Carter, who both trained at Yorkshire Coast College.
The local average wage on entry in to a career in Hospitality and Catering - depend on qualification – is £10,000 - £13,000.a
