English Language A A2 Level (AQA) at Ryburn Valley High School
In A2 English Language, students sit three papers: Language Investigation, Language Variation and Change, and Language Debates. They study topics, such as, accent and dialect, how language changes over time and they learn how to carry out linguistic research. Students have the option of carrying out the Language Investigation as coursework or in examination conditionsWhat does the subject lead to?This course is for any student wishing to pursue a wide variety of careers, for example, media, advertising, journalism, teaching, or local government. It will also provide a solid grounding in using language effectively, for instance, in producing essays, reports, speeches, further studies, and communicating in everyday life. This ‘A2’ Level will also enhance your enjoyment of reading by improving your analytical skills and your understanding of texts.
You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education in English Language or more general higher education courses.With further training, you could go into a job related to English Language such as a Teacher, Journalist, or Editor.The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking.
