A Level Psychology at St Mary's RC High School

Course description

The Psychology syllabus provides an introduction to the main areas of psychology. At AS level, students
will look at topics including cognitive psychology (how we process and organise information from the
world around us through our senses), social psychology (how the presence, real or implied, of others
influences the behaviour of both groups and individuals) biopsychology, human growth and
development and research methodology, including practical research.
At A2 level, we look at psychology in areas such as education, health, sport and criminal behaviour

Entry requirements

Students will require at least a grade B in Biology (triple Science) or B in Additional Science. In
addition at least B in Mathematics and C in English Language will be required. Essays and report
writing are key features of the course, as are the use of statistical methods and interpretation of results.
