English Language A2 Level at East Berkshire College

Course description

This course builds on skills developed at AS English Language and will allow you to explore in greater depth the structure and range of English usage, as well as to evaluate the insights you have gained.


Course content

This course is modular and follows AQA specification A.

The two units which make up the A2 course involve the study of language change, language and gender, grammar and language and meaning.

You will do a research project on a language area of your choice, focussing on spoken language.

It also asks you to consider the public/media's attitude to language and write creatively on this.

Entry requirements

AS English Language at Grade D or above.


The course is delivered through classroom-based activities, such as lectures, seminars, group work.

Independent research is required for Unit 4.

Future opportunities

This course leads to Higher Education.

However employers also value the oral and written communication skills acquired through studying this subject.University degree and a variety of careers.

Employers particularly like the communication skills students learn in this subject.
