Course description

The National Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development is a professional qualification and on successful completion, giving the ‘license to practice’ as an early years practitioner.The children’s care sector comprises statutory, private and voluntary provision of care services. The sector is one of the biggest employers in the country. This option will allow you to develop a wide skills and knowledge base which will be of use in any career involving children. A large part of the course is actively engaged in work placement. It consists of seven core units: Positive Relationships for Children’s Care, Learning and Development, Positive Environments for Children’s Care, Learning and Development, Promoting Children’s Development, Reflecting on and Developing Practice for Children aged 0-8 , Safeguarding Children, Promoting Children’s Rights , Children’s Learning Activities and Play plus optional units.

Entry requirements

BTEC L2 in CCLD ( if taken) Merit, 5 GCSE grades A*- C including English Grade C.

Future opportunities

Must be prepared to commit to regular substantial work placement. Other Level 2 childcare course would be acceptable.
