Painting and Decorating Level 2 Apprenticeship at Stoke on Trent College

Course description

This course will last for approximately two years and is limited to those who are employed in the trade, and will cover all of the main aspects of painting and decorating. Apprentices must also complete Functional Skills, consisting of numerical skills and communication techniques. The course covers both practical and theoretical elements and is assessed throughout your time at the College. All aspects of this qualification will be taught by experts in the purpose built Construction Technology Centre.

Course content

Entry requirements

Candidates must be 16 years of age or over on entry. No formal entry requirements. To enter this programme you will need to show enthusiasm, commitment and interest in the subject area. You will need to be employed in the industry.

Assessment

Students are frequently assessed in the practical environment, in the classroom environment and in industry to check progress is being made. There are a number of theoretical unit end tests, various practical models and a final practical assessment. The final theoretical test is an online test on the knowledge gained throughout the academic year. You will also be assessed within the workplace for competence within this trade area.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the NVQ Level 2 in Painting & Decorating you could be given the opportunity to progress onto a NVQ Level 3.
