Art & Design (Fine Art) - AS/A2 Level at Q3 Academy

Course description

The first year of course gains students an AS qualification in Art&Design Fine Art. In the second year of the course students study for the A2 qualification and look at further aspects of development of specific portfolios.

Course content

This course should encourage candidates to develop:Intellectual, imaginative, creative and intuitive powersInvestigative, analytical, experimental, practical, technical and expressive skills, aesthetic understanding and critical judgementThe experience of working with a broad range of media, including traditional and new media and technologiesAn understanding of the interrelationships between art, craft and design processes and an awareness of the contexts in which they operate.Experience of working within relevant and real frameworks and, where appropriate, make links to the creative industries.Knowledge, understanding and application of art, craft, design and media and technologies in contemporary and past societies and cultures.

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of 5 A*-C grade in at GCSE. You will need to pass the AS level at grades A-E to continue onto the A2 course in Year 13

Assessment

Coursework and externally set assignment.

Financial information

In most cases the course is free of charge. A fee may charged for re-sits or the general public.

Future opportunities

Students who have studied Art&Design at this level have gone on to Art College Degree courses or have used the qualification in securing more Arts-orientated degrees.
