PHYSICS at The Weald School

Course description

Physics is the fundamental science that lies at the heart of modern engineering, technology and medicine. During the ALevel Physics course you will learn a range of topics from the smallest particles known to man to the biggest stars in the universe.

For the AS course you will study the physics in mechanics, materials, waves, electricity and light. Coursework includes experimental work and a case study of an application of physics.

At A2 you will study particle physics, further mechanics, electric and magnetic fields, thermal energy, nuclear decay oscillations and astrophysics. If you have ever wondered ‘How does that work?’ - then Physics is for you.

Entry requirements

Minimum preferred grade is B in either GCSE physics or Core and Additional Science

Confidence with mathematics (B grade or above) as numerical skills are important

An interest in physics and an inquisitive mind as to how things work and enjoy applying your mind to solving problems.
