Sport BTEC Intermediate Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

This qualification covers both the theory and practical skills required in the Sport Industry, particularly in areas related to fitness or coaching.

Course content

Units studied are:

  • Fitness for sport and exercise

  • Training for personal fitness

  • Anatomy and physiology for sports performance

  • Work experience in sport

  • Running a sports event

Various additional pathways are available to allow you to specialise in particular areas of interest, including Sports Performance or Fitness & Physical Activity.

You will also study two functional skills in English and Maths. Additional coaching qualifications will also be undertaken as well as a First Aid Certificate.

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade D or above.
  • A successful interview.

Financial information

  • You will be required to purchase a Fareham College sports kit to wear for practical sport activities.
  • Students who are working in the gym will also need to purchase a gym polo shirt.
  • You may also incur extra fees/additional costs for residential trips.

Future opportunities

You can go onto study Level 3 in Sport Performance and Excellence.
