Children and Young People’s Workforce Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at Bishop Auckland College
Apprenticeships are practical hands on programmes designed to provide you with relevant, practical training, which will enable you to progress within your chosen industry. Apprentices are paid a minimum of 2.68 an hour if they are under 19 or over 19 and still in the first year of their apprenticeship programme. You will be employed between 30 and 40 hours a week. Careers in Childcare can be extremely rewarding and diverse. Opportunities include working as a nanny, pre-school leader or childcare practitioner in schools or nurseries, as well as many other possibilities. We will help develop your skills to the highest level, whichever career path you choose.
You will be required to complete the NVQ and Diploma in Childcare as well as completing Employer Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. If it is required, you will also need to complete Functional Skills in Mathematics and English. You will be allocated an assessor who will visit you in your work place to provide support for the NVQ and you will attend Bishop Auckland College 1 day a week to complete theory work.
The course will develop your skills on working with children and young people and will cover a diverse range of job roles working in statutory, private and voluntary settings.

Progress to the level 3 (advanced) apprenticeship in Childcare, HNC/HND Advanced Studies in Early years at Bishop Auckland College, Foundation Degree in Education & Care at Bishop Auckland College in partnership with Sunderland University. Progress into a career as a: Childcare worker in a school and nursery; Youth Worker; Child-minder; Play worker; Teacher; Teaching Assistant; Nanny; Au-Pair; children’s Activity Holiday Rep.
