To improve your use of the English language and to enjoy using it; developing research, investigation and analytical skills is excellent preparation for further study or entering the workplace.
This course, although involving some creative work, has a clear focus on grammar. You should be willing to focus on some close, analytical linguistic work for this course. Your technical accuracy should be good. You should also be prepared to assimilate a number of linguistic terms, if you are to perform well on this course
C-grade English Language GCSE, preferably B
AS Level Component 1
Section A – Language and Context One compulsory question on a small set of thematically–linked unseen texts.
Section B – Language and Identity One compulsory question on unseen 21st century texts. Component 2: Child Language
Question 1 Creative response to one short piece of unseen written text. Question 2 Response to one longer set of unseen spoken texts.
