Professional Chef Diploma City and Guilds Level 2 at Herefordshire & Ludlow College
This course has a one year duration and is equivalent to 5 GCSEs.
The course is designed for those students who have gained a Level 1 qualification and want to develop their skills and who already be working within the Hospitality & Catering industry.
The qualification is designed to further develop cooking skills for chefs who are wishing to advance their career.

The course is designed to introduce trainees to the preparation and cooking of food to a professional standard with practical sessions, supported by lectures and tutorials. This course will build on your existing cookery knowledge and skills, teaching you how to prepare and cook restaurant standard dishes. You will also gain further knowledge on health and safety and how the industry operates.
Our catering department has excellent facilities, including a modern refurbished professional training kitchen and our very own restaurant - Mortimer's.
Applicants should have achieved a good standard of general education. It is a requirement that you achieve the Professional Chefs Diploma Level 1 qualification prior to commencing this programme. Admission to the course is subject to satisfactory performance at interview.
Note: You will be required to purchase chef's whites and a set of knives to complete these courses. Hardship funds are available and are considered on an individual basis.
The course is full time and lasts for a minimum of one year. It will give students the grounding and knowledge to progress to a Professional Chef Diploma Level 3 or enter employment.
The catering industry offers many jobs across wide sectors such as restaurants, hotels, contract catering, industrial catering and airline catering.
