Early Years Education CACHE Level 2 Certificate at Epping Forest College
The aim of this course is to prepare learners to work with children aged from birth to 5 years with knowledge of ages 5-7. You will study Early Years theory and knowledge which includes:
- children’s’ development and learning
- care of children
- healthy lifestyles
Two days a week will be spent in placement in a childcare setting, gaining valuable practical experience.
Learners will get the opportunity to take part in fund raising, charity events and educational visits.
The course will cover a range of topics from the Childcare sector, allowing you to gain valuable knowledge of the industry.
English & Maths is included as part of your study programme at EFC. All students will be working towards a GCSE Grade C in English Language & Maths alongside their chosen subject. If you’ve already achieved these grades, we will work with you to develop your literacy and numeracy skills further throughout the year.
Work experience is a mandatory part of the course. You will gain valuable experience as a trainee childcare worker, building up practical skills and gaining confidence when working with children.
4 GCSEs at grade D OR Merit/Distinction at an appropriate Level 1 programme.
Your practical skills are assessed by observations of you working in placement and by written assignments and a portfolio of evidence.
You will need to purchase polo shirt/fleece with College logo and the recommended textbook.
After the course, you could work as an nursery assistant or classroom assistant or you could progress to a level 3 College-based course, the Early Years Educator or a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Early Years to qualify as an Early Years Practitioner.
