Course description

The BTEC level 3 courses offer specialist qualifications that focus on particular aspects of employment within the Travel industry. The courses allow the opportunity to broaden your study in Tourist Destinations, Customer Service, and Working Overseas as a Resort Representative amongst others. They are a mix of academic study together with practical elements such as Residential Visits.

• Customer Service in Travel & Tourism

• Work Experience in the Travel & Tourism Sector

Additional qualification for the Award:
• Spanish Speak, Read and Listen

Year 2: Certificate or Diploma
• Preparing for Employment in Travel & Tourism
• Long-Haul Destinations
• Entertainment for Holiday Makers
• Working as a Holiday Representative
• Events and Conferences
• Hospitality Operations in the Travel & Tourism Sector
• Residential Study Visit
• Children’s Representative

Additional qualification for the Certificate / Diploma:
• City & Guilds Level 2 Cabin Crew

Additional Units for the Diploma:
• Retail Travel Operations
• Rural Tourism
• Tour Operations
• Tourism Marketing

You will also participate in GCSE re-sit or Functional Skills for English and Maths if you achieved lower than a C in your GCSE exams.

2 weeks of work experience, residential visit abroad, day trips to Travel and Tourism establishments and the chance to gain industry qualifications.

Entry requirements

Award or Certificate - 4 GCSE passes at grade C or above.
Diploma - 5 GCSE passes, 3 grade C or above and 2 grade B or above (subjects should include English).

Assessment

You will be assessed by assignments and external exams throughout the course and will achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Financial information

Your will need to pay £150 for day trips for the year and there will be an overseas residential trip, which will cost approximately £500. Your tutor will provide details of these at the start of the course. 

Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course can lead to a full time University course, or to employment within the Travel and Tourism Industry.
