Course description

 introducing travel and tourism (the structure, scale and growth of the industry)
 customer service in travel and tourism (assess Thorpe Park’s customer service after a visit in
October, develop your own customer service skills through a number of practical scenarios)
 travel destinations (a detailed investigation into one long haul and one short haul destination)
 tourism development (the costs and benefits of tourist development and the driving force
behind them)
 event management (devise, plan, carry out and evaluate a travel and tourism event – for
example a Halloween disco)
 the guided tour (devise, plan, carry out and evaluate a guided tour – examples in the past have
been cafes of East Grinstead, The Long Man of Wilmington, Hever Castle and Standen)

Entry requirements

You will need 5 or more GCSE grades at C or above, or merit or distinction in a level 2 BTEC diplomaAn interest in the travel and tourism industry or in a customer focussed career would be beneficial
