Wood - CSkills Awards Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations at Calderdale College
This is a practical and theory based course which consists of the student/candidate working through a number of work related units following either a bench joinery or a site carpentry route. These are achieved through assessment by observation, questioning, practical phase test and external examination. Delivered at Calderdale College, Bailiff Bridge Construction Centre & North Halifax Skills Centre.
This course consists of you working through a number of work based units. Some of these units for bench/site are:
- Fitting and fixing moulds
The above units are a combination of Site or Bench. At Level 2 you will choose one route and stay with it for the duration of the whole qualification. At the end of this qualification you will have a good degree of knowledge on joinery and will be able to work on site. Assessment is through observation and written tests.

In most cases students aged 18 and under who wish to enrol on a full time further education course will have their fees waived. Students who are aged 19 and over and who wish to enrol on a full time course should contact our Student Services Team on 01422-399367 for more information.
All successful students may have the opportunity to progress onto a Site or Bench Joinery Diploma Level 3 or an NVQ Level 3 through the work based evidence route. Employment opportunities could include an apprenticeship in your chosen trade area. Many have chosen to become self-employed at this stage due to the knowledge they have gained from the course.
