Business Studies - A level at Turton High School & Sixth Form College
Business is a dynamic subject which encourages you to apply business concepts with events in the business world.
Using relevant subject content, Business is one of only a few “live” subjects available - with fresh examples of both good and poor practice emerging from the news almost daily.
You will be taught by expert teachers who deliver the content through interesting and engaging approaches. The teachers also help you develop to develop your own opinions and thoughts on the content covered.
You will develop an appreciation of how businesses are organised and the external factors that can affect business performance such as the economy, Government, society, technology and the environment. Business will enable you to develop a range of transferable skills that will be beneficial whether you choose to go onto university or straight into a number of different careers.
You will follow the AQA course and study:
· What is business?
· Managers, leadership and decision making.
· Decision making to improve marketing, operational, financial and human resource performance.
· Analysing the strategic vision of a business
· Choosing strategic direction
· Strategic methods: how to pursue strategies
· Managing strategic change
At least GCSE English Language - 5 and Mathematics - 5. Business grade B (if studied)
Three compulsory sections:
Section A 15 multiple choice questions.
Section B has short answers up to a total of 35 marks.
Section C and D have two essay questions worth 25 marks each.
Three data response questions worth approximately 33 marks each, made up of three or four part questions.
One compulsory case study followed by six essay style questions.
There will be three two hour exams. Each 100 marks and worth 33.3% of A Level.
