Engineering and Technology (Electrical/Electronic and Mechanical) and NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations - Level 2 Certificate at Vision West Nottinghamshire College
A practical course that will provide you with an introduction to engineering. Units include engineering techniques, engineering principles, machining, hand fitting skills and electric testing.
Learn about engineering technologies, electrical and mechanical principles and machining and electrical testing.
- Three GCSEs with at least 2 points (grade E) including English, science and technology. Plus maths with 3 points (grade D) OR
- A Level 1 qualification in engineering and completion of a four-week introductory course.
You will need to attend an interview with the tutor before being accepted on to the course. You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.
Mature students (those aged 21 or over) who do not have the qualifications required for entry may still be eligible, subject to an interview. Relevant experience, a strong portfolio of work and a commitment to the subject you wish to study may be acceptable for certain courses.
You will complete four units for the certificate and six units for the NVQ diploma. Assessment is carried out using a combination of practical and knowledge based activities. You will also be required to complete an online examination.
The course could lead to further study or a career in the engineering sector.
