Product Design at Sandbach High School & Sixth Form College

Course description

The A Level in the Design and Technology: Product Design specification seeks to develop students' knowledge, understanding, skills and application for designing products.

Product Design encompasses a wide range of design disciplines but is firmly rooted in the skills required to design and make high quality products; that are fit for purpose, satisfy wants and needs, enhance our day-today lives and, most importantly, give students the opportunity to demonstrate their design and technology capability.

This is an excellent course which is enjoyed by both students and teachers. It consists of studies of all the aspects of Product Design such as designing, materials, and processes as well as product studies such as the clockwork radio and Dydon vacuum cleaners. There is a practical project in each year where students have previously made such things as computer tables, futons, jewellery boxes and teaching aids for Primary School pupils.
