Aeronautical Engineering Level 3 at Peterborough Regional College
This course is ideal if you are looking for employment in the aviation sector whether military or civil or for those who wish to progress into higher education to study a Foundation or Honours Degree. The course covers advanced engineering subjects such as electrical principles, theory of flight, aircraft mechanical science and jet engines.
This advanced course will include a mix of theoretical and practical units designed to offer a good grounding in airframes, engines and avionics. Subjects covered include: • Engineering principles • Engineering project • Microcontrollers • Calculus • Aircraft flight principles and practice • Aircraft gas turbine engines • Aircraft electrical and flight instrument systems
4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including maths and science or other level 2 qualification in engineering at Merit or above. You will also need to have achieved GCSE maths at grade C/4 or above. You will need to attend an interview to make sure the course is right for you. If you have other qualifications and/or relevant experience you will be fully considered and may still be able to study for the course.
You will be assessed by both assessments and time–constrained assignments.
You will need to supply your own overalls, safety shoes or boots and a pair of safety glasses.
This course is ideal as an entry qualification for university and higher education courses in avionics, aerospace or engineering. The course will allow you to progress into employment in the aerospace industry as a technician in a variety of aviation and engineering disciplines.
You will be required to attend a Welcome Event, details will be provided upon application.
