Plumbing Level 2 Apprenticeship at New College Durham
This course requires day release attendance at College. You will be employed and working as an Apprentice Plumber. You will gain evidence from your place of work which will go towards the achievement of your Apprenticeship.
Your Apprenticeship Framework is made up of various components which include:
- NVQ Diploma - this is acheived by attending college on a day release basis completeing both theory and practial training and assessment. Further training and evidence is produced/assessed from within your workplace. All evidence should be written up and placed into a portfolio along with other supplementry evidence.
- Functional Skills - Level 2 English, Maths and ICT level one are all required, unless you have GCSE grades equal too or better than. While attending College you will also complete other aspects of the Apprenticeship Framework.
- Employability Rights - a seperatley assessed unit with a multiple choice paper based test at the end.
The Level 2 Apprenticeship in Plumbing lasts two years, but exact course duration will be agreed with you at the beginning of the programme. There will be no fee to you as an Apprentice for your first level two. You will be required to provide a portfolio, which will include evidence of written projects and assessments. Evidence from your workplace may include photographs of your work and/or signed testimonies from your employer or supervisor.
The entry qualifications are 4 GCSE's at A-D level. The successful completion of an industry entry test and subsequent interview. Employment within the plumbing industry.
Jobholders in this unit group assemble, install, maintain and repair plumbing fixtures, heating and ventilating systems and pipes and pipeline systems in commercial, residential and industrial premises and public buildings.
