Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate at Hove Park School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

If you love to perform and want to study in a college with excellent specialist teachers, fantastic facilities and resources plus a professional theatre, this is the course for you. We will help you develop your skills in singing, dancing and acting from wherever your starting point may be. You will also be encouraged to specialise in a chosen area; Singing, Dancing, Acting or even Musical Theatre.

Course content

Throughout the two years you will work on 4 main units of study looking at practitioners in their focus areas that have influenced the performing arts and gaining the skills to critique and identify the various ideas running throughout their work. In other units students will explore musical theatre, gain vital groups skills and prepare for a variety of performances they will deliver throughout the course.

Entry requirements

GCSE (Grade C or above) or BTEC Level 2 in Music, Drama, Dance or Performing Arts (Performance) / Musical Theatre or performance experience out of school.


The full two year course has 4 assessed units. Two of these will be assessed internally and two by external moderators. Assessment will be a combination of written and practical performance for each unit.

Career links to various performing arts such as teaching, performing, theatre work (directing, stage and sound directors) as well as providing a variety of transferable skills valued across higher educational institutes and employers.
