English Language A Level at Plympton Academy

Course description

This course provides students with the tools to analyse the use of language, spoken and written, as well as its production. We will learn: how language is used to form relationships between writers, speakers and audiences; how children learn language from birth and how they are able to understand and express themselves through language; and how spoken and written language has changed over time.

Entry requirements

Grade 5 in both GCSE English Literature and GCSE English Language

Future opportunities

Any career that involves communication, for example: advertising and marketing; journalism; law; business, teaching; or writer.
