Painting and Decorating Diploma Level 1 & 2 at Coleg Sir Gar
All units at this level benefit from containing both practical/therory content covering such subjects as selection of tools and materials, preparation of surfaces, application of standard wall papers, the correct use of access equipment is also included within the course.
In addition to these subjects the production of decorative effects and applying water-based materials using spraying equipment are part of the course.
This qualification is designed to prepare people to enter the industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions.
There are no formal entry requirements for the diploma level two painting and decorating, but the completion of diploma level one in painting and decorating is seen as an advantage.
The qualification outcomes are asessed by the following methods: Each practical unit is assessed on practical ability and each knowledge unit is assessed by mandatory questions. On completion of all units there is a synotic practical assignment. Trainees must also complete an online test that covers the core units and the occupational units.
The qualification provides a progression route towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
