Health and Social Care Traineeship at Lancaster and Morecambe College
A Traineeship is a work based learning programme tailor made around your needs. It offers the chance to undertake quality work experience in an employment sector of your choice for a minimum of 100 hours. As a successful trainee you will have developed the skills and knowledge to apply for an Apprenticeship and be more skilled and confident to apply for jobs. You will cover maths and English skills, work preparation skills and have a practical work placement.
You will study work preparation skills including CV writing, interview preparation and techniques, team working skills to support your progression and confidence building. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills.
You need to be motivated to work towards the skills and qualifications to progress to support progression into an Apprenticeship or employment. You also need good interpersonal skills, to be punctual and reliable and have to good interpersonal and to present professionally in the work place.
This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including portfolio presentation, exam/online test and practical performance.
