IB Psychology at Thamesview School

Course description

The IBCP contains 2 IB standard level subjects plus the learning core that all IB students undertake. Along with this a Level 3 BTEC course will also be part of the qualification.

IB subjects- Psychology

Course content


  • The biological level of analysis
  • The cognitive level of analysis
  • The sociocultural level of analysis

Options from;

  • Abnormal psychology
  • Developmental psychology
  • Health psychology
  • Psychology of human relationships

Simple experimental study;

  • Introduction to experimental research methodology

Entry requirements

Minimum of 6 GCSEs at Level 4 or above (A*-C equivalent), including English Lit or Lang at grade 4 and Maths at Level 4.


Assessment is by a mixture of written final papers and internal assessment.

Future opportunities

This exciting qualification gives students an excellent opportunity to move into a number of different pathways.

The course can lead to University places with recognised UCAS points attached to each element of the programme. It could also lead to higher level apprenticeships and directly into a job role.
