Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Make Up) at White Rose (Central College of Health and Beauty) Leeds
The Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies (Make-Up) (QCF) is a technical level qualification that provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as a beauty therapist specialising in make-up. This qualification is based on Habia National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification is recognised by the UK's largest beauty therapy trade body/professional association, The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and also the UK's second largest association representing beauty therapy employers; the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a beauty therapist specialising in make-up.
This qualification has been specifically designed for the 16-19 age group and builds on existing knowledge and understanding of beauty therapy gained at Level 2, enabling learners to expand the scope of their technical skills to prepare learners for employment as a beauty therapist specialising in make-up.
The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including health and safety, client care and communication, fashion and photographic make-up and media make-up. These units are all mandatory.
Learners also have the opportunity to undertake optional units to enhance their range of practical skills such as face and body art, airbush make-up, camouflage make-up, mehndi skin decoration, applying prosthetic pieces, styling and fitting postiche and fantasy hair design.
It is recommended that learners have achieved a level of education equivalent to four GCSE’s at grades A*-C prior to commencing the programme, however, learners should discuss their own circumstances with the College as entry is based on qualifications, skills and experience as well as a keen interest in a career in the Beauty Therapy industry.
- Assessment is through portfolio building and continual assessment of practical skills, written work and assignments.
