Further Mathematics AS/A2 at Tewkesbury School

Course description

For those students who have a love of Mathematics, and enjoy the challenge it brings, Further Mathematics could be the choice for you. You will venture into first year university topics, studying advanced algebra alongside applied topics in Mechanics and Statistics. The teachers are all qualified statisticians or engineers and bring a huge amount of experience and relevance to studies.

You will study a complete A-Level in Mathematics in Year 12 (this is a ‘double’ option), with the more advanced Further Mathematics coming in Year 13. This is a demanding subject, and one very highly regarded by employers and universities. Past students have gone on to study a variety of subjects, including Economics and Engineering, and is highly desirable (or sometimes a requirement) for courses at some universities, such as Engineering and Architecture.
