Course description

This course will prepare you for an enormous range of art and design based higher education courses. Future careers in the design sector could include Product Design, Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Set Design, Interior Design, Architecture and many more. You will have opportunities to visit exciting design centres and look at the work of real life designers both within school and in an industrial setting, to examine the work of others designers and inspire your own work.


Course content

A-Level Product design is an exciting and innovative course that helps you develop your capacity to design and make products and appreciate the complex realtions between design, materials , manufacture and marketing. We are fortunate enough to be able to deliver the course with industry standard software and many contemporary manufacturing methods, including laser cutting and 3D printing. You will have the opportunity to design your own projects that cater for your individual strengths and areas of interest.

An A-Level in Product Design is widely acceptable as an entrance qualification at all universities and colleges, and encompasses a wide range of disciplines and combination of subjects . Product Design is an excellent qualification for careers in engineering, architecture, product/industrial design and any other design realted courses.

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 and, if taken, a GCSE in any Design Technology option at grade B or above. The course is open to all students, even if you have not studied the subject before. What we are interested in is your desire to design and make solutions.
