Dance A Level at South Downs College

Course description

This course offers students a wide appreciation of dance through theoretical studies, with an emphasis on choreography and performance, while at the same time developing practical skills to a much higher level.

Throughout the course you will study the practical elements of choreography, contemporary technique and performance.

The theoretical aspect covers the study of contemporary dance and/or musicals/ballet through history, appreciation and evaluation, focusing on one set work.

You may also choose to study for the Diploma in Dance Instructor (DDI) professional qualification alongside your course, which will equip you with valuable industry recognised teaching skills for your career after College.

Successful completion of this course would enable progression onto higher education. Alternatively, you may wish to go straight into employment in the entertainment industry.
