Manufacturing EAL NVQ Foundation Certificate Level 1 at Fareham College

Course description

This course will provide you with an introduction to the knowledge and practical skills required by an engineering crafts person or technician.

Typically, more than half of your time in College will be spent in our well-equipped workshops where you will follow a programme of practical work.

Course content

  • Working safely in an engineering environment

  • Working efficiently and effectively in engineering

  • Using and communicating technical information

  • Making components using hand tools and fitting techniques

  • Using lathes for turning operations

Financial information

A full CEMAST uniform and safety equipment must be purchased by new students when they join. This will include overalls, steel toe cap safety shoes, safety glasses and a polo shirt to be worn when on campus.

Future opportunities

  • You can progress to Level 2 BTEC First Diploma in Manufacturing.
  • You will be able to apply for a craft or technician Apprenticeship.

    • All Automotive, Engineering and Manufacturing courses run by Fareham College are conducted at our Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training, or CEMAST, campus on the Daedalus airfield in Lee-on-the-Solent.

      The site is the central training facility for over 900 Full Time and Part Time Students, and acts as the main learning centre for students in apprenticeship programmes with our partner companies – BAE Systems, GE Aviation, Virgin Atlantic, Coopervision, Burgess Marine, Jensen Motorsport to mention but a few.

      CEMAST offers future students a choice of career first and course second. Our focus is to provide all of the knowledge that any Student will need to enter their chosen field and effectively prepare them for work and/or higher study.
