Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) Level 3 Diploma at Harrogate College

Course description

This Study Programme is a college based course where you will spend three days a week studying a range of topics and two days per week out in a variety of child care settings with children aged 6 months – 5 years.

Course content

Play and Learning
Professional Practice
Providing Safe Environments for Children

As part of your Study Programme you will also attend sessions on a weekly basis with your Student Coach who will support you with your work as well as include you in extra-curricular activities such as a Citizenship project, Employability skills and progression passport opportunities.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A* to C including English, Maths. A current child care reference from an OFSTED registered establishment. A clear DBS certificate.


There is a mixture of externally and internally set assignments which include an extended essay and building portfolios of evidence based on your practice in the workplace.

Financial information

There is a resource fee for this course which will be discussed at interview.

Future opportunities

Upon completion, the Early Years Educator status will allow you to progress to a wide range of opportunities which could include, Nursery Nurse, Nanny, Overseas Rep, Teaching Assistant or direct entry to HE.

The course offers a maximum of 420 UCAS points at Awhich would be ideal for students wishing to pursue a career in Primary Teaching, Social Work, Youth Work or other related degree courses.

Harrogate College also runs a Foundation Degree in Early Years which would be an alternative route to University.
