French at Bridlington School Sports College

Course description

In A Level French you will study the following topics through reading, writing, speaking and listening in French. You will also focus on developing your French grammar skills:

Y12: AS Level

* Media - Television, advertising and communication technology
* Popular culture
* Cinema, music, fashion/trends
* Healthy living/lifestyle
* Sport/exercise, health and well-being, holidays
* Family/relationships
* Relationships within the family, friendships, marriage/partnerships

Y13: A2 Level

* Environment
* Pollution, energy, protecting the planet
* The multicultural society
* Immigration, integration, racism
* Contemporary social issues
* Wealth and poverty, law and order, impact of technical and scientific progress
* Cultural topic - you will read a French or Spanish novel

Entry requirements

5 A* - C grades (including English and Maths) plus a grade A or higher in GCSE French.

In rare cases students may be considered with a GCSE grade B in French, but this will be at the discretion of the Head of Sixth Form and Head of Modern Foreign Languages.
