Course description: The BTEC First qualification consists of five units where students explore a range of two and three dimensional approaches. Students are required to respond to a series of briefs that have a work place theme. They will have the opportunity to develop skills in a variety of disciplines such as painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, Photoshop, ceramics, 3D construction, mod rock, oil pastels, textile crafts and digital photography.

Entry requirements

Prior attainment/skills required:

Some experience of using art materials and processes, together with some knowledge of contemporary and historical art and design.

Willingness to develop artistic skills, creativity and imagination.

A commitment to completing extension and enrichment tasks.
