Supporting Teaching & Learning Intermediate Apprenticeship - level 2 at Dudley College
This apprenticeship trains you to provide support in the classroom. Learning support staff work with teachers, carry out duties like lesson preparation, and work with small groups or individuals.
You will learn about how to support pupils with schools to allow them to access the national curriculum, covering such topics as:
• Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools
• Functional skills English – Level 1
• Functional skills maths – Level 1
• Functional skills ICT – Level 1
• Employer Rights & Responsibilities (ERR)
• Children & young people's development
• Supporting children with special needs
• Professional relationships
• Safeguarding and welfare
You will need to attend an interview, provide two satisfactory references and are required to have employment in a school for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
3 GCSEs at grade D or above including maths & English (Grade 3) OR CACHE Level 1 Early Years qualification with functional skills maths & English at Level 1 and a tutor reference.
NOTE: Caring & Early Years qualifications lead to employment with vulnerable groups of people, therefore applicants are required to have a clear police record and have police clearance before embarking on the programme. There may be exceptions to this where minor non-relevant offences are on record. However, any offence may create difficulties in gaining employment in this field of work. DBS forms are available from college.
You will be assessed by a portfolio of work, practical assessments in the workplace, questioning, assignments and examinations.
Progression on to a Level 3 Apprenticeship or an improved role within your current line of work.
