Art & Design BTEC Level 1 Certificate at Walsall College

Course description

The course is designed to support learners to improve their skills and knowledge within Art and Design. It gives learners the opportunity to explore a variety of art and design techniques.

Learners will gain confidence in applying creativity in various specialisms including painting and drawing, 3D design, photography, computer generated graphics, textiles and printmaking.

Contextual studies will help learners to understand a historical and contemporary context in art and design. Self directed learning is encouraged to develop personal projects. Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications required. Please note that learners with disabilities or Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities may be exempt from some entry requirements. This will be decided on an individual basis and will be subject to suitable evidence and needs assessments. Admissions tutors will work with the Inclusive Support Team to ensure learners with additional support needs are given appropriate advice and guidance.

Assessment

  • Assessment is ongoing and through the building of a portfolio of evidence.
  • Functional Skills are exam based.
